About Ready for the Unexpected

Ready for the Unexpected was created to help everyday UK households prepare for emergencies with clear, practical and straightforward advice.

Emergencies such as power cuts, water supply interruptions and severe weather can happen unexpectedly. Having the right supplies and equipment at home can make these situations easier to manage.

Official guidance provides a useful starting point, but understanding which products to choose, how they work and what you actually need isn't always straightforward. This website aims to make those decisions easier.

You'll find practical guides, product recommendations and advice covering everything from essential emergency supplies to backup power, alternative cooking methods and other ways to make your household more prepared.

I believe emergency preparedness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. Some articles focus on building supplies affordably, while others explore more advanced equipment and solutions for those who want to take their preparations further.

Product recommendations are independent suggestions intended to help readers make informed decisions. Ready for the Unexpected is an independent website, not a government organisation, and its recommendations should not be mistaken for official government endorsements.
